WRONG INFORMATION!

by Brian Sutcliffe
(WINNIPEG CANADA)

I worked on cruise ships for 6 yrs in the Spa. You do not get to mingle with the Passangers on RCCL. At all! There are Bars you are not allowed at all! You never get to use the ships amenities at all NEVER!

The food on some ships is just horrible at best. They only want you to sell sell sell even through they tell you it does not matter to them it does big time.

Remember that being on ships if you are American you still get taxed by the US.
The only reason for me getting off the ships is NO MONEY I was working 12day cruises. My tips for that period were 300US. You do the math. You also have to pay the Spa 35.00 a day just to work. Sounds great EH!

I've been looking into cruise ship jobs and I'm just curious. It says you worked them for 6 years? If the conditions were as bad as what you are saying, then why did you do it for that many years? Were there not any perks to the job at all?

Why work for 6 yrs...
by: Anonymous

I'm the the other respondant...why work for a cruiseline for 6 years if you didn't like it? Sounds like you just got tired of the job itself. I was told cruise employment is not a career position...you usually stay on for a yr or 2 at best for the experience then move on to bigger and better things. With experience under your belt you should be able to obtain a job at any resort spa.

Rebutle
by: Brian Sutcliffe R.M.T.

Dear Anonymous, YES I worked on ships for six years. When I started the pay and the parties were great and the ports were good. It steadly went down hill. The Cruise line started to restrict the areas you could go to at night. As for the experience of working on ships to get other employment in the Spa industry. Take courses, courses! You will be able to get any job in a Spa, and just think you will be able to eat much better food, sleep in your own bed and you won't have to pay your employer to able to work.
