Time is Money

Setting your price of services takes into account numerous factors. One of the most important is time. The old expression "time is money" rings true today. Abraham Lincoln (a lawyer) is quoted as saying "A lawyers' stock in-trade is his time". This applies to massage as well. A lawyer bills by the hour and the services provided, experience, etc. very much like a massage therapist.

There are only so many hours in a day, week, month, or year. There are real limits as to what you can expect. Calculate the annual income you hope to achieve and divide it by the number of hours you can provide massage services. You're never going to make your goals if you don't take a good look at the amount of time, or inventory, that you have. Set your prices with this in mind.

Leverage your time!
by: Patti Wyman

I have learned in my 16 years of massage to leverage my time. I currently charge $50 an hour. By coming down to a resession special pricing from $60 I was able to maintain 100% of my clients as well as add on to my practice because clients respected my level of experience and loved the fact that I was not raking them over the coals like evryone else. I then found these incredable products to retail and started retailing and I am now averaging $85 an hour and my clients are thrilled with their $50 massage and their great products to boot. I now make more than I ever had and work 3 days a week part time!!
