Thai Massage Classes

Learning from a thousand years of experience... that is what it is like taking Thai massage classes. It will change the way you think about massage and approach your clients.

The practice of Thai massage, also known as Nuat Phaen Boran, is an ancient practice. It is something that has been practice in varying regions for hundreds of years. And each region has altered the practice slightly to include their own preferences and styles to Thai Massage.

thai massage classesIn a Thai massage, your client will be posed in several varying yoga positions. This is not a lay down and let me work on your muscles kind of massage. Your client is an active participant. In these various yoga positions you may use some stretching movements as the masseuse, or you may practice some acupressure techniques. When this is concluded, your client will get some comfortable clothing and lay on a mat. This can be done individually or in a classroom setting with many clients present. For each client, or with your individual client you will use your forearms and palms to apply pressure to the client's muscles. Oils are not often used in this type of massage, but sometimes a hot herbal compress will be used similarly to hot stones. The heat of the compress will help to relax muscles and open them up for massaging. A typical Thai massage will last for two hours or more and will work on just about every muscle in the body.

The Thai massage will work on your muscles, but their efforts will primarily be to get your body in unison with your mind and spirit. A relaxed spirit and mind leads to a comfortable and healthier body. Practicing this type of massage on a regular basis will ensure that your client’s minds and bodies are well relaxed and they can focus on the positive in their lives rather than the hustle bustle of the every day.

traditional thai massage schoolThe Thai massage has not gained the type of popularity in the United States as the Shiatsu or the Swedish massage. It is available and likely to be practiced by many masseuses, but it is not advertised much, so many people know very little about it. This can be a great opportunity to educate your clients on the benefits of the Thai massage and convince them that this is the type of massage that they have been looking for. This will create a niche market for you and this type of massage and before you know it, your client roster will be overflowing and you'll have to find help. It is a longer massage, which means that the cost of it will be greater, but the benefits will far outweigh those costs and if you can convince your clients of the truth of that statement, they will be your clients for life and they'll bring others along with them.

The Thai style of massage works deep within the tissue to provide a great experience with massage. The relaxing nature of the massage coupled with the working of troubled areas will bring your client's body, mind, and spirit into unison and that will make for a happier and healthier client which will keep them coming back. That's a great incentive for any therapist to take Thai massage classes and learn thai massage techniques. And you may even find that your start to add the "Thai influence" to your Swedish massage.

Thai massage classes are available through traditional Thai massage schools but also as electives in many popular massage schools.
