Subcontracting Has Been The Best Experience For Me

by sammyc
(Blue Bell, PA, USA)

I have had experiences as a direct employee and as a subcontractor. The benefits of working as a direct employee such as security and a steady stream of clients are important to many people and based on your personality and personal preferences, this arrangement my be the best for you.

Ultimately, I have found that working as a massage subcontractor is the best working mode for me. I have worked in association with physical therapists very successfully. The PTs usually have an established space and continuous stream of clientele. This provides a significant level of security in terms of business and yet allows me to cultivate my own clients and maintain a significant level of autonomy.

I would highly recommend that after a massage therapist has gained some real world experience and confidence in their technique to seriously consider subcontracting. This is especially true for those people striving to maintain a healthy work life balance.

Subcontracting vs. business ownership
by: JJ

Does anyone know if filing taxes as a contractor or subcontractor is any easier than filing as a business owner?
Ive had my own massage business for 14 years, and the headaches of filing taxes is complicated each year.
I'm trying to find out if working as a "contractor" could be more beneficial from a tax standpoint, with less headaches.
Not having much luck with finding information.
Anything you have to offer would be appreciated.
