You can save on local sales taxes for your massage table, towels, and other massage therapy related equipment (that will NOT be resold to a customer). Register as a business with your state and local taxing authority. Then get a tax exemption certificate. Show this certificate to your supplier at the time of purchase for any equipment and the seller does NOT collect sales tax. In high sales tax states like NY this can be very valuable. Sometimes you can save 7-10 per cent on your purchases.

I got my California resellers certificate and use it all the time. Technically you are only supposed to get things tax free if you are going to resell things. So massage tables should be taxable unless you are buying them to sell to people.
