Personalize your Massage Technique
We all develop techniques and are drawn to one or the other based on our stamina or area of emphasis for what is needed for clients whether it be sports oriented, post surgical, relaxation, migraines, etc. So, for me, I say what is most important, beyond skills and technique is honoring the client beyond what is standard and accepted. I think this is the area to excel, to set yourself apart, and exactly what increases client loyalty. For example, if you can, sound proof the room for privacy or put plants in the room to sound proof from sounds from outside the room, make sure sheets aren't "too thin", I personally never accept tips, don't assume that because what you think is a great technique that all clients think so too! Check in with new clients to assure them you want to personalize the experience to match what they need..so many people don't come back because the simply put up with a disliked technique until the message is over which could be avoided. I say don't get stuck on what you think IS a great technique. That is precisely what can stifle your practice.
