national certification for cruise ship work for a bodyworker with 30 years experience
by Roy Strassman
(Richmond, California)
I trained as a Hellerwork practitioner (similar to Rolfing) in 1979 and was certified by state-approved school in 1980. I also completed a top notch massage school in California in 1976, but never bothered to apply for a license (back then graduation from an approved massage school was sufficient to obtain a state license, and for only a nominal fee!) I have been in practice since 1980, am quite expert at what I do, and desire to work on cruise ships. Will a national license help me, and do you have any suggestions? I am not interested to return to school or take exams, as I know very well what I am doing and wish to jump through as few hoops as possible. Others know too, once I put my hands on them.
