Moved from TX to VA

I am having difficulty transferring my license since the requirements are different in VA. I am told after 5 years of working in the field, I need to go back and start over here. It's too expensive for our family. I had the TX requirements but at the time they didn't require the National exam. The National exam said they won't honor my transcript since it's not 600hrs at time of graduation in 2005. To pay 12,000 dollars for another license is ridiculous. Any help?

Some advice good, some not so.

First before you throw everything away, contact a reputable massage therapy school that will at least look at your transcripts. From there you will be told exactly what you are lacking in. I will gaurantee that one of the classes will be laws and rules for the state of Virginia. Once they translate, take the additional hours that will be required. Do not start at the beginning. After you have met the required hours, then take the MBlex exam. It is a licensure exam that will qualify you to apply for a state license. The bad news is, that there is a money investment here. Between the test $195. License for the state approx. $150. Classes needed to upgrade, you will probably be looking at $1,000 or so. You can make it happen, but first, you need your transcripts translated by a school licensed in Virgina, not the NCBTMB.
