Mobile Massage is the Way to Go
by Jenn

I am lucky enough that my husband works full-time and has good benefits, so I mostly do massage to supplement our income, not to get the benefits. So being mobile is definitely the best way to do that. I can work my own hours and don't have to worry about sharing what I make or renting space. I can go to offices or other nontraditional spaces and give a lot of massages, thus maximizing my income, one day, or meet someone at their house, who doesn't drive. A lot of my pregnant clients appreciate the house calls, so they don't have to drive. It was a little challenging to set up as being self-employed, but one of my clients is an accountant, so we swapped services and he helped me set it up. He helps me with taxes and I give him a massage each time. I love being in control of my schedule- if I have a client I want to meet at 6am or 11pm, I can do it. Even better, if a client is mobile and wants to come to my house, I just set up the table in the spare room, and they can come to me. I get to keep all of the money I make, and change my rates accordingly, and if I don't like a client, I never have to see them again. I highly recommend working on your own- once you do, you never want to go back!
