massage salary at a spa

BE CAREFUL!! Greed is the theme for spas. I had to take the first job that came along after I was laid off of my last job. I went from making $40-50 and hour, to making only $12.50 an hour (plus tips). Although I do not have any overhead to pay, I have been doing massage therapy for 16 years now, and am very good at it. I have never felt so unappreciated, overworked, and disrespected in all my life at a job. The spa I work at really only does cater to the hairstylists and nail techs; the massage therapists are the ones bringing in the most money, but are the ones who get paid the least (and who work the hardest too) . The hairstylists get 50% on all the treatments they do. The spa charges 53.00 and hour for a massage, and pays the therapist only %12.50 an hour. Plus, they charge extra for deep tissue, hot stones, reflexology, head ache relief, etc., and we get NO extra and WE are the ones performing the work. I am praying to GOD to find another job ASAP!!!!
