Massage Certificate / Diploma
by Booth
(Seattle)
I was faced with this choice 36 months ago and decided against a massage degree at that time. I had little money and wanted to be in the training (and therefore poor) aspect for as little time as possible. Also, I had several friends and coworkers that were veterans and I was able to close the gap by watching and learning from them for the first 6 months.
Looking back, I feel like in my position where there were available clients for me as soon as a finished school, it made sense. However, if I was going to start my own practice I would have (and would advise anyone) to go with the massage degree. Not only is it true you can expect to earn more right away, your confidence will be much higher with all the extra hands on experience. This is really only a viable option if you are doing well enough financially where you can be without income for a period of time.
