I'm Grandfathered inTexas, but I want to take take the NCBTMB?

by Christina Seeton
(Grand Prairie, TX, USA)

Hello,
I've been a LMT going on for almost nine years now. I want to take the NCBTMB so I can practice out-of-state in the future. Will my previous hours (250+50) plus many practitioners hours go towards my requirements to take the exam? How do I go about to take the NCBTMB?
Thanks,
Christina

All states have their own requirements that must be met prior to practicing massage in that state. Most states require licensing from their state. Being certified by the NCBTMB does not permit you to practice massage therapy in most states. I beleive that the National Certification Board for Therapuetic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) requires therapists to have graduated from a massage school with a minimum of 500 hours. You can check directly with them by going to their website and looking at their requirements. If you are not clear by looking at the website, they have contact info posted so you can call or email your questions directly to them. Just google NCBTMB.
