I want to know how to find out if a person who says they are certified in massage therapy is actually certified?

Two ways, first each state that has a licensure will have a board of massage. Usually they have web sites that you can go and look up a license. If the state is not a license state then that person may have a certificate from the NCBTMB. You can go to that website and look for a therapist. If you don't find the person on either, then the chances of them having a license or certification is slim.
