Get Feedback from Current Students!
(Odenton, Maryland, USA)
I am currently a student roughly halfway through my studies at Baltimore School of Massage (BSOM) in Maryland. I did a lot of research before choosing BSOM, but I regret that I didn't make it a point to talk to any of the students that were currently enrolled. Doing so probably would have saved me a lot of frustration. I relied on BSOM's prestige as the oldest, most established program in the state, not realizing that the school had changed ownership and management in recent years. Talking to current students probably would have revealed that BSOM regularly enrolls classes of up to 50 students, and they frequently rearrange your curriculum so you don't even learn the fundamental material in any kind of logical order. The massage therapy program at Baltimore School of Massage is the most expensive program in the state, costing roughly $4000 more than the next priciest program. However, the quality of education there does not warrant the cost. I recommend that anyone researching massage therapy school visit the schools in person and get some one-on-one feedback from current students without the school administrators hanging around.
