Dont do it with Children!
by Lynsey
(England)
I had a home massage business for a few years which was fantastic, I was home but working at the same time, I could complete chores in between clients, start work and finish when I wanted, I had no travel expenses as work was just in the next room, however this all changed when I had children, you would think this would be the perfect job, working from home and bringing up children but it wasn't.
From the start I found it almost impossible to keep my children quiet enough whilst I was working, the older they got the louder they got and I had to start restricting my massages to during school hours or on an evening when they were asleep, this meant that the time I got to spend with them was not good quality time, just more rushing round trying to get things tidy and ready for the next client.
After a while I decided to go mobile but the increasing travel costs meant this wasn't as cost effective so the only solution was to open my own business and work whilst the children are at school.
This is the best thing I've done and has given us back our quality of life, my kids can make as much noise and mess, and my clients are no longer disturbed by arguments over the tv remote and are back getting the treatments they deserve! so my advice is if you have no children then a home business is the best thing ever if you have kids its a juggle thats hard to keep up and you may be better opening a business away from the kids...far away!
