Did i wait too long to get career on the right track?

I am in Maryland and received certification July 2007 & passed national exam nov. 2007. due to unexpected life events i was unable to get my license. now i am able to pursue my career but i dont know if i need to go back to school for certification & if i have enough education ? how do i get my career started back up & where can i find the info?
