Create a Space That Doesn't Look or Feel Like Part of Your Home
I've found that when clients come over, it was important for me to really, really make sure that even though we did invest in a separate entrance with small waiting area, that I created an ambiance that didn't feel like my home or an extension of my home.
That's harder to do than it may sound...a few plants and water fall bowl won't do it!
First, clients took off shoes when they entered, of course the music, water, and plants were there, but I made it a garden...I literally made the waiting area a garden with sky lights in the roof to get enough light. I also had several birds on the potted trees, a small gold fish pond, lots and lots of hanging light catching glass pieces on invisible fishing wire. It wasn't hokey at all, very upscale, but the theme allowed clients to easily leave one world, enter mine, and never feel that they were in someone's "home" space!
