Chair Massage Training
Chair Massage allows you to reach a whole new market of people who are unlikely to receive a traditional massage. And a quick chair massage training class may be all it takes to expand your massage business.
For those in the busy processes of life, you know that it’s sometimes difficult to find time to schedule a massage. Sometimes life just won't allow time for self-indulgence such as this. With this in mind, the chair massage was invented and brought into widespread use.
A chair massage is quite different from a massage in which you make an appointment, are given a robe, calming music is played, etc. With a chair massage, the chair is portable; therefore, the massage can be given just about anywhere. These massages are relatively short, lasting anywhere from ten to twenty-five minutes. Clients remain fully clothed as they receive the massage. As the masseuse, you have no preparation nor do you focus on a particular group of muscles unless specifically asked for it.
Chair Massage Pricing
Although chair massage rates are lower than a full massage therapy session, the time required is shorter. You can perform several chair massage in an hour. Typical rates are $20 for a 15 minute massage or $35 for 30 minutes. If you can attract a steady stream of clients (which is easy to do given the public nature of chair massage) you can make some good money.
Massage Goes Mobile
These chairs are popping up all over the place. I often run 5k races; in several of them, there have been massages offered to all participants willing to wait in a very long line. I have seen these massaging chairs at the center of shopping malls as the masseuse tries to get people to come over and get a massage as a break from their day of shopping. These massage chairs are available and easily portable; therefore, they can show up just about anywhere.
Taking a chair massage training course and buying (or renting) a massage chair can add extra dollars to your income. You can carry your massage chair with you everywhere and reach new markets.
Be careful when talking to clients about chair massage because another common form of chair massage does not include a masseuse at all. There are several companies, but mostly HomeMedics, that are specializing in making massagers that either come right in your seat, or they can be added to any seat in your home or even in your car. These massagers are programmed and are limited in what they can do for you and your muscles, yet they are growing in popularity.
No Competition for the Real Thing
While most massage chairs deliver a pleasurable experience, it doesn't take long before the repetitive nature of the machine becomes too much. Having a professional massage done by a masseuse is something that no machine will ever be able to top. They will not be able to get into the tissues of the muscle groups as a human person that has worked there way in there through their own efforts. So while some therapists view these chairs as competition, in reality they are introducing a whole new market of people to the world of massage.
