Blue Cliff College began teaching students about massage therapy in 1987. It has earned its proprietary school license and accreditation. Blue Cliff College serves the southern United States with campuses in New Orleans, Lafayette, Gulfport, Shreveport, Fayetteville, Baton Rouge, Houma, and Alexandria.

Programs at the Blue Cliff College include a diploma program and an Associates degree program. All of the campuses include classrooms for lectures; break rooms, a library, computer labs, classrooms for massage, and administrative offices. Blue Cliff has a lot of equipment to help you get used to what you will be working with in your own massage therapy office.

Two Programs to Choose From

There are two choices of programs at Blue Cliff College for massage therapy – you can earn a diploma or an associates degree.

Massage Therapy Diploma: In this program you will learn all about anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology. These are the three basics for all massage techniques. You will learn a variety of massage techniques in this diploma program to get you ready for an entry-level position when you graduate. Some of the massage techniques you will learn are: basic shiatsu, Swedish massage, sports massage, deep tissue massage, and neuromuscular therapy.

Graduates of this diploma program can seek careers in a variety of massage practices, including massage therapists for medical professionals, massage therapists at spas or salons, physical therapist assistant, chiropractors assistant, sports team massage therapist, private practice, hospital massage therapy, and gym massage therapist.

When you successfully graduate with your massage therapy diploma you will be able to apply for licensing in the states of Mississippi and Louisiana or take the national certification exam.

The associate’s degree in massage therapy at Blue Cliff College offers an Associate in Occupational Studies Degree in Massage Therapy (AOSDM) when you successfully complete all requirements. You will not only train to become a successful massage therapist, but you will also learn general education and business classes in addition to a wider variety of massage techniques, as well as training in the business and communications parts of being a massage therapist.

When you successfully graduate you will be ready for an entry-level position, as well as opening your own business or managing your own spa.

How Long Does this Take?

Diploma Program: If you choose to attend the day classes you can graduate in nine months. If you choose the part time night classes you can graduate in fifteen months. In this program you will be required to successfully complete fifty-three quarter credits.

Associates Program: If you choose to attend the day classes you can graduate in eighteen months. If you choose to attend the part time night classes you can graduate in twenty-seven months. You will be expected to successfully complete ninety-six quarter credits.
